I have added a new page to bring some attention to those individuals and organizations that support our program. It is just getting started, but as we get closer to our annual fundraiser I hope to fill up the page with the names of those helping to keep our program moving forward.
This is not a complete list of all of the actions our kids have been involved in this spring and summer, but gives everyone an indication of those who have been working hard to get better this off-season and compete for a championship this year.
Eli Matthews and Dustin Turner competed with Team Ky in the Middle School National Duals in Danville, IL.
Sean Fausz and Garth Yenter competed in the NHSCA Nationals in Virginia Beach, VA. Sean placed 2nd in the middle school division.
Spring Intramural Youth clinic – a number of middle school and high school wrestlers worked over the course of a few weeks to teach young wrestlers the basic skills
Ohio Tournament of Champions – Spencer Moore, Zach Wells, Ryan Moore, Brady Wells, Tanner Yenter, Bryan Spahr, Sean Fausz, Garth Yenter, and Eric Spahr competed at one of the toughest tournaments in this part of the country. Sean finished 3rd and was only seconds from making the finals.
Dennis Hall camp – a good turnout from our kids to learn new technique from a world class wrestler.
Campbell County Camp – a decent turnout from our kids to support our program, learn new technique, and get some mat time in
Central Regional – Garth Yenter placed 2nd in Freestyle and 3rd in Greco and will be competing in Fargo at the Cadet nationals later this month
There have been a number of kids who competed at tournaments throughout the spring and summer (Conner, Amelia, Freestyle/Greco state, etc) and a few who have continued to work hard practicing weekly at Moeller and our open mat time at Campbell County. Not to mention those will have and will be attending various other camps throughout the summer in addition to hitting the weights to get stronger.
Keep up the hard work guys! It will pay off in February!
Note from Coach Fausz:
There will be a group lifting Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10 am@ Body Dynamics. This is mainly experienced lifters that don’t need much assistance from me, but they will be doing the same workouts.
To make things less complicated for myself as well as others, I will be at the gym Monday, Wednesday, and Friday @ 4:30 pm. This will be very consistent now that school and other sports are over except for the week of the Campbell County wrestling camp 6/14 – 6/17 which everyone should attend instead.
Sean and I will be there on Tuesday and Thursday @ 3:30. This will be a lighter weight, higher rep, quick workout using more dumbbells than we normally use, or it may be plyometric/core workouts, or it may be some combination of both for anyone interested in joining us. Perfect opportunity to go straight from the gym to Moeller for some mat work!
Campbell County seniors Korey Shotwell and Nathan “Nate” Ilg will continue their wrestling careers in college. Shotwell, a resident of Maysville, signed today with The Citadel in Charleston, SC. Ilg signed with Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky.
